Discount Calculator — Smart Shopping Made Easy
A discount calculator helps you instantly figure out how much you save and what you actually pay. Whether you are comparing sale prices at a mall, checking if an online deal is worth it, or calculating a business discount for a client — our tool handles all three types of discount problems.
Three Types of Discount Calculations
- Find Final Price: You know the original price and the discount %. Calculate how much you pay. Formula: Final = Original × (1 - Discount%/100)
- Find Discount %: You know the original and final price. Find out the discount percentage. Formula: % = ((Original - Final) / Original) × 100
- Find Original Price: You see the discounted price and know the % off. Find the original price. Formula: Original = Final / (1 - Discount%/100)
Real Shopping Examples
- A ₹2,500 jacket is 40% off. You pay: ₹2,500 × (1 - 0.40) = ₹1,500. You save ₹1,000.
- A phone was ₹15,000 and is now ₹12,000. Discount = ((15000-12000)/15000) × 100 = 20%
- You see a "60% off" tag with a price of ₹800. Original price = 800/(1-0.60) = ₹2,000
Beware of Discount Tricks
- Inflated original price: Some retailers inflate the "original" price to make the discount look bigger.
- Additional charges: Taxes, shipping fees, and installation costs can reduce your actual savings.
- Cashback vs. Discount: Cashback is refunded after purchase and may have conditions. A direct discount is simpler.
